How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Relative local BRST cohomology
Definition
Use the four-dimensional coordinate and jet algebra and nilpotent differential fixed by the earlier Abelian local BRST definition and nilpotence lemma. For integers and , a compactly supported local horizontal -form of ghost number is a finite sum of terms where each coefficient is smooth and compactly supported in , polynomial in finitely many field-jet coordinates , and homogeneous of ghost number . Denote this space by . A left derivative is used for odd jet coordinates.
For each spacetime index , define the total derivative on a local coefficient by where ranges over multi-indices, over the field and ghost generators, and is the multi-index with one derivative in direction . The horizontal exterior derivative is . It satisfies . Extend to a homogeneous -form by , where acts on its coefficient by the earlier local BRST definition; then and .
Set for or . Evaluation of a compactly supported local four-form on any smooth off-shell configuration is a finite integral.
For a graded subcomplex stable under and , define and The relative local BRST cohomology is . In four dimensions, is shorthand for . For compactly supported coefficients, by the one-variable fundamental theorem of calculus in each coordinate and Fubini's theorem, so the quotient by identifies densities that define the same integrated local functional.
