How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Adopted simple shear production
Pointwise simple-shear state of the adopted three-dimensional LES closure. This is an exact model calculation, not a measured flow or a solution- existence claim.
Example
Assume the Axiom of Countable Choice for the normalized periodic-torus convention. Let be an open time interval measured in seconds, m, , and . All spacetime fields below use the ordered domain and evaluation ; for a time-indexed spatial field , write . Let be a periodic divergence-free velocity field measured in m s. Let be smooth, dimensionless, supported in a compact subset of , and satisfy . Define
where is volume measure on a period cell. Thus is the resolved velocity field, with position in metres and velocity in m s. The periodic filter commutes with spatial derivatives, so is divergence-free. Let be prescribed specific unresolved kinetic-energy and kinematic eddy-viscosity fields, measured in m s and m s, respectively. Use , let be the identity matrix, and define and for real matrices. Define
For the adopted closure, define the modeled specific stress and transfer by and . At a point , suppose the velocity gradient is
where is the local shear rate in s. Put and . Then the modeled transfer at is m s. This is a pointwise calculation in the adopted closure model; it asserts no measured value, finite-time evolution, or sign for exact filtered transfer.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: Countable Choice, the stated smooth periodic divergence-free velocity and filter, the prescribed nonnegative model fields, and the pointwise gradient with in s.
Adopted closure formula from Isotropic eddy viscosity and unresolved energy model: and .
Countable Choice is carried by the referenced periodic-filter model: every countable family of nonempty sets has a choice function (The Axiom of Countable Choice ()).
Positive periodic convolution filter and subfilter stress: the positive smooth periodized convolution filter has a nonnegative unit-mass kernel and is defined by the displayed formula.
Normalization, periodization, and derivative commutation for the positive fluid filter: this fixed periodic filter commutes with spatial derivatives, so filtering a divergence-free velocity gives a divergence-free resolved velocity.
Verification
The normalized filter is well defined and preserves the given zero divergence by [A2], [F1], and [F2]. Symmetrizing the given gradient gives . Therefore .
The gradient in the statement has zero trace, so . Its symmetric part in step 1.1 satisfies . Applying [A1] at therefore gives . Since , the units agree; if or , the value is exactly zero. This is an exact model calculation, not an observation.
