How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Worked instance of the interface vocabulary on the cosmological redshift slot: an explicit de Sitter ray family, an operational model and the exact window of an illustrative bounded record
Worked instance inside the classical gravitational framework: it instantiates the model-configuration, readout and operational-model clauses of the experiment interface on the framework's cosmological redshift prediction for the flat vacuum de Sitter solution with and , using the explicit future null geodesic family of the example's verification and an explicitly illustrative one-point record. It asserts no measurement, no apparatus, no calibration correctness, no sampling model, no statistical inference and no empirical support or refutation of the model or of any postulate; every numerical value in the record is declared illustrative, and the model is adopted only as a hypothetical solution of the framework's postulates.
Example
Fix real constants , , , , and use the FLRW unit convention of FLRW model data: warped product metric, cosmic time, comoving congruence, scale factor and Hubble parameter: is measured in , and in metres, in , in seconds, and the standard Euclidean spatial coordinates and are dimensionless. Choose the affine parameter in seconds. Scale-factor values such as and are in metres, while the redshift values are dimensionless. Thus and are dimensionless, and is dimensionless; in particular has units of seconds and the logarithm below has a positive dimensionless argument. Set the model's cosmological parameter to , with SI dimension under SI unit and coordinate conventions of the classical gravitational framework. Adopt the homogeneous cosmological model of Adopted homogeneous and isotropic cosmological model with a comoving perfect fluid in its vacuum sector, with the FLRW model datum given by , the standard Euclidean in its standard coordinates, and (FLRW model data: warped product metric, cosmic time, comoving congruence, scale factor and Hubble parameter). Let be the metric, its metric-selected connection, the comoving congruence and the comoving worldline through (The FLRW metric is smooth Lorentzian; the comoving field is unit timelike and cosmic time parametrizes comoving curves by proper time; the slices carry the scaled spatial metric, Metric compatibility, torsion freedom and the metric-selected connection class). The point of the example is the interface arithmetic of Model configurations, interface readouts, operational models, data records and the analysis vocabulary of the experiment interface, not the datum. For this , An expanding flat vacuum solution for positive cosmological parameter and non-existence for negative parameter applies with and establishes that the displayed flat, vacuum FLRW datum satisfies the adopted field law; this remains a hypothetical model construction and supplies no observational claim.
(a) An explicit ray family. For define
Then is a smooth curve in ; its tangent has components
and is future-directed and null; moreover is a geodesic with affine parameter , and along it
By clause (iii) of Adopted clock, free-fall and light-ray assumptions of the classical gravitational framework the model assigns to an ideal light ray.
(b) The operational model. Let and put , , . For each put , and . Define , , and let be the model configuration of clause (a) of Model configurations, interface readouts, operational models, data records and the analysis vocabulary of the experiment interface whose entries are: the comoving congruence ; the comoving receiver worldline through and the comoving emitter worldline through , each parametrized by cosmic time; the ray with the parameter values and the events , ; and the annotation declaring that the readout to be computed is the redshift readout of clause (b)1; the ambient datum, metric and connection are those of the Example. Let be that redshift readout itself, . Then is an operational model for the redshift readout in the sense of clause (c) of Model configurations, interface readouts, operational models, data records and the analysis vocabulary of the experiment interface with the prediction
and is a strictly decreasing bijection of onto .
(c) An illustrative record and its exact window. Declare the one-point data record of clause (d) of Model configurations, interface readouts, operational models, data records and the analysis vocabulary of the experiment interface with , , and , and with condition annotation "cosmological redshift readout of the de Sitter configuration with fixed ", so that the record's declared closed box is ; these are declared illustrative values, not a measurement, and the condition annotation identifies them as such. Declare the comparison rule of clause (g) of Model configurations, interface readouts, operational models, data records and the analysis vocabulary of the experiment interface that a parameter is consistent with exactly when lies in the record's closed box , equivalently when . Then the consistency set is
a nonempty closed interval of exact length ; its endpoints satisfy and , and both lie strictly inside . For the declared illustrative normalisation in the length unit of the datum the window is with length in that unit.
(d) Scope. Every number in (c) is a declared illustrative value supplied to instantiate the vocabulary; the example asserts no apparatus, no calibration correctness, no measurement, no sampling model, no statistical inference and no empirical support or refutation of the cosmological redshift theorem or of any postulate. The model of (b) is the hypothetical flat vacuum de Sitter solution with the declared parameter , as verified by [A2]; no observation or reported dataset enters.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The constants , , , ; the FLRW datum of the Example with , the standard Euclidean , and ; its metric in the product chart , its metric-selected connection and comoving congruence ; the curve of (a) with tangent ; the declared constants , and, for each , the values and events ; and the declared illustrative record and comparison rule of (c).
Adopted model: the spacetime geometry of the homogeneous cosmological model is an FLRW model datum with metric and comoving congruence , and in the vacuum sector no matter is present (Adopted homogeneous and isotropic cosmological model with a comoving perfect fluid clauses (i) and (ii)). The ideal light-ray rule is clause (iii) of Adopted clock, free-fall and light-ray assumptions of the classical gravitational framework: ideal light rays are future null geodesics.
The declared cosmological parameter is , so because . The flat vacuum de Sitter result An expanding flat vacuum solution for positive cosmological parameter and non-existence for negative parameter clause (a), applied with this , , , , and , establishes that the FLRW datum of the Example satisfies the adopted field law.
In the product chart the Christoffel symbols of are , and , all others zero; on the standard Euclidean one has and , so with the nonzero symbol families are and (Christoffel symbols of the FLRW metric in product charts, Metric compatibility, torsion freedom and the metric-selected connection class).
A smooth curve is a geodesic with affine parameter exactly when, in a chart, for on every parameter subinterval lying in the chart, where is the tangent (Geodesic of an affine connection, Coordinate geodesic equation).
The metric components in the product chart are , , ; a nonzero causal vector is future-directed exactly when , and a nonzero vector is null exactly when ; the comoving curve is a future timelike worldline with four-velocity , , and its parameter is its proper time up to an additive constant (The FLRW metric is smooth Lorentzian; the comoving field is unit timelike and cosmic time parametrizes comoving curves by proper time; the slices carry the scaled spatial metric clauses (a)-(b), Timelike worldlines, proper time, length and four-velocity on a Lorentzian four-manifold, Proper time is well defined and reparametrization invariant; the four-velocity is its proper-time tangent, Timelike, null, spacelike and causal vectors of a Lorentz vector space, Smooth time-oriented Lorentzian four-manifolds: the geometric objects of the model).
The exponential is smooth on with , the natural logarithm is differentiable on with and , and the chain and product rules apply (The real exponential function and the number by a power series, The exponential function is smooth and , The natural logarithm as the inverse of the exponential function, The natural logarithm has derivative 1/x and equals the integral from 1 to x of 1/t, The derivative of at a point that is a limit point of , and differentiability on a set, Sums, scalar multiples, products and quotients: , , , and when , The chain rule, in one line from Carathéodory: if is differentiable at and is differentiable at , then is differentiable at with ).
Redshift theorem: for the adopted model with an FLRW datum and a future null geodesic on which the observer energies , , , satisfy , and for , one has and, with , (Cosmological redshift: the observer-energy ratio of a null geodesic between comoving observers is the inverse scale-factor ratio clauses (b)-(c)).
Interface vocabulary: a readout is defined for a model configuration carrying the required entries; an operational model is a tuple with subject to the interpretation ; a data record declares that the readout lies in the closed box and contains no probability space, sampling law or coverage statement; and a comparison claim requires a separately declared rule (Model configurations, interface readouts, operational models, data records and the analysis vocabulary of the experiment interface clauses (b)1, (c), (d), (g)).
The observer energy of clause (a) of Observer-relative energy, spatial momentum and rest mass of a tangent vector for the unit observer is ; for the comoving worldlines this is .
Reciprocal ratio windows: for the map has strictly decreasing inverse , and for the preimage of is , an interval of length (The reciprocal ratio map : strict decrease, inverse, and the exact preimages of points and closed intervals claims 2-4).
Verification
(The ray family.) The quotient rule in [L4], starting from and directly from the difference quotient, gives for every integer by induction using products of . Consequently for every , starting from . Each derivative is continuous on : the rational powers in this formula are differentiable by the same quotient rule, and differentiability implies continuity because as . Thus is smooth there. Repeated chain and algebra rules now show that the curve is smooth on with the displayed tangent components , and ; by [L4], for every . Hence , so and, with , the pairing vanishes; since , [L3] gives , so is future-directed and null. For the geodesic equations, the nonzero symbol families of [L1] are and ; since , only contributes to the time equation, and the symmetric mixed terms contribute twice to each spatial equation: the -equation of [L2] reads , and by [L4] and its two terms are and ; the -equation reads , and by [L4] its terms are and ; the - and -equations read and and hold because . All equations hold on , so [L2] makes a geodesic with affine parameter , and [A1] assigns it to an ideal light ray.
(The operational model and its prediction.) For every the tuple of (b) is a model configuration in the sense of clause (a) of [L6]: its worldline entries are the comoving curves through and , which by [L3] are future timelike worldlines with four-velocity and proper time equal to the cosmic-time parameter up to the additive constant of the clock zero; its observer entry is the comoving congruence ; its ray entry is with the parameter values and the incidence conditions , ; and its annotation declares the redshift readout of clause (b)1 of [L6]. By [A2] the ambient datum is a solution of the adopted flat vacuum cosmological model. The sets are nonempty and is surjective. For the readout, [L7] identifies the observer energies of clause (b)1 of [L6] with those of [L5] because and ; by step 1.1 the ray is a future null geodesic with , so [L5] applies and gives , where the use of as the redshift readout is the declaration of (b) and the last equality uses and ; hence . By [L8], is strictly decreasing, and subtracting preserves strict decrease, so is strictly decreasing on . For each , lies in and satisfies ; conversely, solving gives this unique value. Thus is a bijection with inverse , as asserted in (b). Hence each component of is the value the framework assigns to the declared redshift readout of , that is, condition of [L6] holds, and is an operational model with for the redshift readout .
(The consistency window.) The declared record of (c) has closed box on the redshift readout , and the declared comparison rule asks for , equivalently, since by step 2.1, for the preimage under the map of . Applying [L8] with , , gives , a nonempty closed interval of length . The endpoint values are and ; both endpoints lie strictly inside because and . For the declared illustrative normalisation in the length unit of the datum, the window is with length in that unit.
(Conclusion and scope.) Steps 1.1, 2.1 and 3.1 exhibit a smooth future null geodesic on , verify that the tuple of (b) is an operational model for the redshift readout satisfying condition with prediction , and compute the exact consistency window of the declared illustrative record under the declared comparison rule. All numerical values are declared illustrative values: the step uses no probability space, no sampling law, no coverage statement, no apparatus and no observation, the record is not a reported dataset, and every conclusion is conditional on the adopted model postulate, on the ideal light-ray rule and on the declared comparison rule.
Remarks
-
Why the affine parameter is not the physical parameter. The model's parameter is the emitter's scale factor , a declared framework quantity with the datum's length unit; the affine parameter of the ray is an intermediate quantity, and the map between them is the strictly increasing linear map recorded in (b). The prediction uses only the ratio of scale factors, so it is unchanged if every is rescaled by a common constant; the illustrative normalisation fixes that freedom.
-
What the window does and does not say. The window is an exact set-theoretic preimage of a declared closed box under a strictly monotone prediction map; it is not a confidence set, it carries no probability interpretation, and it uses the hard-bound reading of the record. A record whose entries were instead source-reported estimates with standard-uncertainty scales would require a separate comparison rule and would not assert the closed box used here.
