How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Explicit circular-orbit data of the Schwarzschild exterior at the ISCO radius 3s and the photon-sphere radius 3s/2
Example
Let be the Schwarzschild exterior datum with Schwarzschild radius , (The Schwarzschild exterior model datum: domain, metric, mass parameter and time orientation), with the circular-orbit data of Circular timelike geodesics, their radial-potential stability threshold, and the photon sphere at r = 3s/2 and the radial potential of Conserved quantities and equatorial radial reduction of timelike geodesics of the Schwarzschild exterior model clause (c). Then the following exact evaluations hold.
In every evaluation below, differentiate with fixed as a constant and substitute the circular-orbit value only after differentiation.
- The innermost stable circular orbit at . With one has , and , and the second derivative of vanishes: . The circular angular velocity at this radius satisfies .
- The photon sphere at . For , with one has and ; the null potential has and .
- A stable comparison radius. At one has and , a strict local minimum: the two threshold values (existence) and (stability) separate the unstable circular orbits from the stable ones .
- Blow-up at the existence threshold. As the required angular momentum diverges, , so there is no finite angular momentum at the limiting radius; for no circular timelike geodesic exists (Circular timelike geodesics, their radial-potential stability threshold, and the photon sphere at r = 3s/2 clause (b)).
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The exterior datum with , and the function , the potential , its half , and the null potential , with in the photon-sphere clause.
For the equatorial circular timelike geodesic constructed in Circular timelike geodesics, their radial-potential stability threshold, and the photon sphere at r = 3s/2 clause (a) has , , and its angular velocity satisfies ; conversely every future timelike geodesic with constant on an interval of positive length has , and if equatorial it has this (that supplier's clause (b), The Schwarzschild exterior model datum: domain, metric, mass parameter and time orientation).
Differentiating at fixed and then imposing gives the circular stability value for (Circular timelike geodesics, their radial-potential stability threshold, and the photon sphere at r = 3s/2 clause (c), Conserved quantities and equatorial radial reduction of timelike geodesics of the Schwarzschild exterior model clause (c)).
For , the null circular orbit at has , angular velocity , and the null potential satisfies , (Circular timelike geodesics, their radial-potential stability threshold, and the photon sphere at r = 3s/2 clause (d)).
For the identities , , , , hold, and , ; all divisions below have nonzero denominators (The Schwarzschild exterior model datum: domain, metric, mass parameter and time orientation clause (a), The derivative of at a point that is a limit point of , and differentiability on a set, Sums, scalar multiples, products and quotients: , , , and when , Rational powers of a positive base, Intervals of : the nine order-convex forms, nondegeneracy, and length).
Proof
(ISCO data at .) By [L4] and [L1], at the denominator is , so . Then , so and . The angular velocity is . By [L2], . This is clause 1.
(Photon-sphere data at .) By [L4], , so ; the angular velocity satisfies , hence . The two potential identities are those of [L3] evaluated at the stated radius. This is clause 2.
(Stable comparison radius .) At the denominator is , so ; by [L2], , a strict local minimum of at the circular-orbit radius. Combined with clause 1, the sign of changes at , separating the strict local maxima on from the strict local minima on ; this is clause 3.
(Threshold divergence.) For the denominator is positive with as , while the numerator ; hence . By the converse clause of [L1], no future timelike geodesic in any angular orientation has constant on an interval of positive length for , since that would force . This is clause 4.
Remarks
- What the example computes. The quantities , , , and are exact evaluations of the cited formulas at the stated radii; the factor in is irrational. The longitude velocities and angular momenta refer to the constructed equatorial curves. The example reports no orbit of any observed body and no measurement, and the word "stable" refers only to the sign of the second derivative of the stated effective potential of the restricted model.
