How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Exact small-field coupled residual order
Statement
Let be a smooth Lorentzian four-dimensional chart domain with metric as in Oriented Lorentzian fields, observers and coordinate conventions, and let be constant. Write for the smooth real -forms on . Here , , is the exterior derivative with coordinate formula , and is the Lorentzian Hodge map characterized by for , as in Lorentzian exterior calculus and Hodge star. Both operators are real-linear. Suppose . Let satisfy and . For any real dimensionless , put and define
using of SI and geometrized Einstein–Maxwell parameters and Exact geometric electrovac normalization. Then remains an exact source-free Maxwell field on the fixed metric and
For a smooth covariant two-tensor and compact , define the chart component norm of its restriction by when . In this estimate and its applications, use for nonnegative component functions ; equivalently, the empty restriction has . It is finite for smooth and satisfies
If and is not identically zero on , the fixed pair is not an exact coupled Einstein–Maxwell solution on . This is a residual estimate only; it gives no nearby metric, solution-distance bound, point-source solution or backreaction limit.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The smooth Lorentzian geometry of Oriented Lorentzian fields, observers and coordinate conventions, positive constants and quadratic tensor of SI and geometrized Einstein–Maxwell parameters, a compact chart subset , and the stated vacuum and source-free equations. The inherited geometric setup carries as in [A1].
The tensor is quadratic in the two-form and the Einstein normalization uses the coefficient . (Exact geometric electrovac normalization)
The geometric setup admits smooth two-forms; the specified is smooth on . (Oriented Lorentzian fields, observers and coordinate conventions)
The exterior derivative on smooth forms is real-linear, and the Lorentzian Hodge map is a real-linear bundle map characterized by , with on two-forms. (Lorentzian exterior calculus and Hodge star)
The inherited choice assumption is Countable Choice , not full Choice. (The Axiom of Countable Choice ())
Proof
Exterior differentiation and the Hodge map are real-linear by [F3], so and . Thus the source-free Maxwell equations remain exactly satisfied on the unchanged .
Each term of is quadratic in , so and the associated lower tensor is by the definition in the Statement.
Substituting the assumed vacuum equation and step 1.2 into the residual definition gives exactly.
If , the stated convention makes both norms in the claimed equality zero. Suppose . Each component is continuous; the relative open sets , for positive integers , cover . Compactness gives a finite subcover, and the largest of its indices bounds on . Thus every component supremum, and hence their finite maximum, is finite. The norm is homogeneous, so step 2.1 and give . If and is not identically zero on , then is nonempty and some component of is nonzero at a point of ; step 2.1 makes the residual nonzero there, so the fixed pair fails the coupled equation on . No estimate comparing it with a different metric follows from this identity.
