How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Exact positive constant solution of the CMC constraint equation
Exact algebraic solution of the zero-cosmological-constant CMC vacuum constraint equation in the stated constant-coefficient case; it is not a universal solvability theorem.
Statement
Let the vacuum conformal data be as in the definition, so that is TT with respect to . Suppose the conformal metric has and is a positive constant, with constant . Then the Lichnerowicz equation has exactly one positive constant solution, With a fixed length unit, , so is dimensionless. Uniqueness is only among positive constant solutions; no uniqueness claim is made for arbitrary positive functions.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: Vacuum conformal data as in the definition, including a smooth TT covariant tensor on a nonempty compact smooth three-manifold, with , , and constant . Assume for the inherited embedded Lorentzian constraint interpretation.
The Axiom of Countable Choice (), Vacuum conformal constraint data: is the axiom that every countable family of nonempty sets has a choice function; the local definition requires it only for an embedded Lorentzian interpretation, not for this algebraic solution.
Vacuum conformal constraint data: is positive and dimensionless, is the constant trace parameter, and the zero- vacuum scalar residual is defined using and ; the input is symmetric, trace-free and divergence-free with respect to .
Conformal reduction of the vacuum constraint equations: the scalar residual vanishes exactly when .
Existence and uniqueness of -th roots: a unique with : every positive real number has a unique positive twelfth root.
Rational powers of a positive base: for a positive base, denotes its unique positive twelfth root.
Proof
For a constant , . Substituting and in [F2], its equation becomes . Multiplication by is reversible, so this is equivalent to .
The right side is positive because and . By [F3], it has exactly one positive twelfth root, and by [F4] that root is . Thus this is the unique positive constant solution.
Remarks
This is an exact algebraic solution for the stated constant seed data. It does not establish solvability for other conformal metrics or TT tensors.
