How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

The Jantzen filtration of a lifted cell module

Definition

Let R be a principal ideal domain (Principal ideal domain) with a chosen prime element π, let F:=R/πR be the residue field, and let M be a free R-module of finite rank (The free module on a set and its standard basis) equipped with a symmetric R-bilinear form ⟨ , ⟩:M×M→R whose extension to the fraction field K=Frac⁡(R) is non-degenerate (equivalently det⁡G≠0 for a Gram matrix G of the form). For i≥1 put M(i):={x∈M:⟨x,y⟩∈πiR for all y∈M},MF(i):=(M(i)+πM)/πM⊆MF:=M⊗RF. Then M(0)=M, the M(i) are R-submodules with M(i+1)⊆M(i), the descending chain MF=MF(0)⊇MF(1)⊇MF(2)⊇⋯ stabilises at 0 (that is, MF(z)=0 for all sufficiently large z, because det⁡G≠0), and MF(1)=rad MF, the radical of the reduced form. This finite descending filtration is the Jantzen filtration of M with respect to (R,π,⟨ , ⟩). The hypotheses are exactly: R a PID, π a prime element, the form non-degenerate over Frac⁡(R); no valuation-ring or DVR hypothesis is substituted, and the prime element π, its ideal πR and the fraction field K are kept distinct. Each M(i) is a submodule: for the cell forms on this page the associativity identity ⟨xa,y⟩=⟨x,ya∗⟩ shows closedness under the action. For 0≠r∈R, define νπ(r)=max⁡{k≥0:πk∣r}. This maximum is finite: otherwise the uniquely determined elements r/πk give an ascending chain of ideals whose union is principal, say generated by an element in its N-th ideal. The chain then stabilizes at N, whereas (r/πN)=(r/πN+1) and cancellation would make π a unit. For termination, put a=νπ(det⁡G). If x∈M(i), its coordinate column v satisfies Gv∈πiRd, so the adjugate identity gives (det⁡G)v∈πiRd. For i>a, primality of π forces every coordinate of v into πR. Thus M(i)⊆πM and MF(i)=0. In rank zero the filtration is already zero. Finally a reduced vector belongs to the reduced form radical exactly when any lift pairs with every vector of M into πR, which is exactly membership in M(1). No choice principle is used.

17 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
