How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Mean-zero square-integrable functions
Definition
Let be a probability measure on . Here is the real space of square-integrable measurable functions modulo equality -almost surely, with its usual quotient norm (The space as the quotient by null functions, The norm descends to the quotient and makes a normed space for ). For , the integral is finite and independent of the representative: Cauchy–Schwarz on the probability space gives , and the expectation of integrable representatives is invariant under almost-sure equality (Cauchy-Schwarz inequality for , Expectation depends only on the almost-everywhere class).
Define the mean-zero square-integrable space by
It carries the norm inherited from . Countable Choice is not needed for this definition; a later local Hilbert-space argument uses it only to inherit completeness from the library's general Hilbert-space result.
Depends on
- Probability measures and probability spaces
- The space $L^p(\mu)$ as the quotient by null functions
- The $L^p$ norm descends to the quotient and makes $L^p$ a normed space for $1 \le p \le \infty$
- Expectation of a nonnegative or integrable random variable
- Expectation depends only on the almost-everywhere class
- Cauchy-Schwarz inequality for $L^2$

Dependency tree · two levels
23 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
