How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
QAOA circuit and expected combinatorial objective
Definition
Let be a finite simple undirected graph, , and . On qubits define Prepare and apply, in the declared right-to-left product convention, The output state is and the objective is . Measuring every qubit in the computational basis returns a random bitstring, hence a cut. Each cost and mixer exponential, graph-input access, parameter encoding, state preparation, measurement, repetition, and classical optimizer cost must be supplied and charged; this definition is not a guarantee of a maximum cut or approximation ratio.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: Computational-basis bitstrings and the Pauli eigenvalue convention.
The Pauli matrices: for .
Projective measurement outcome weights are probabilities: the finite computational-basis measurement probabilities sum to one and determine the outcome law.
Verification
On , the edge term has eigenvalue , which is exactly when and otherwise. Thus has eigenvalue equal to the cut size of .
The finite projective measurement law assigns probabilities summing to one, so the expectation of the measured cut size is by the diagonal spectral expansion. Each output is therefore a feasible cut with the stated score observable.

50 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
