How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
A conditional three-dimensional computation with no uniqueness claim
Example
Let , , and choose a nonzero , for example a smooth bump supported in . Put and This supplies explicit smooth no-slip data for a three-dimensional MINI backward Euler computation; initialize the discrete scheme with .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: Countable Choice, , the unit cube, the displayed compactly supported initial field, zero forcing, and any shape-regular matching mesh and finite time partition.
The L2 orthogonal projector exists, and the MINI backward Euler equations have a solution and every solution satisfies the discrete energy inequality. (Discrete Helmholtz projection and pressure Schur identities, The mixed mini-element backward Euler Navier–Stokes scheme, Backward Euler MINI step existence and discrete energy bound)
Under the Axiom of Choice, in three dimensions the uniqueness result is conditional on a strong solution branch with the regularity and equation hypotheses stated there. (The Axiom of Choice, Two-dimensional uniqueness and conditional three-dimensional weak–strong uniqueness)
is the -closure of compactly supported smooth fields. (Zero-boundary Sobolev space as a norm closure, Stokes velocity and pressure spaces and weak forms)
Verification
The field is smooth and compactly supported in , so it belongs to . Its divergence is by direct product differentiation. Thus and has zero boundary trace.
For any mesh and finite partition, [F1] supplies a discrete trajectory; with , its kinetic energy, time jumps and accumulated viscous dissipation obey the budget in Zero-forcing discrete energy budget. If additionally the Axiom of Choice holds and the continuum data admit a strong branch satisfying [F2], the comparison theorem makes that branch unique among energy weak solutions on its interval. Without that additional strong-solution hypothesis, neither the scheme's existence nor its energy budget selects a unique three-dimensional weak trajectory or asserts that the computed flow is turbulent.

48 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
