How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
One-bit J-gate teleportation branch identity
Statement
For a normalized qubit and real , prepare and project the first qubit in the ordered basis of J gate and ordered equatorial measurement vectors. The outcome- branch operator on the second qubit is
Thus each outcome has probability and the normalized output is . The operator identity is linear and therefore also holds when the input qubit is entangled with a finite-dimensional reference register.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: A normalized qubit , a fresh ancilla, and a real angle .
The J-gate definition sets ; its identity lemma gives and proves the pair is orthonormal (J gate and ordered equatorial measurement vectors, J-gate basis and exact phase identities).
A finite projective measurement assigns each orthogonal projection its Born outcome weight (Finite projective measurements).
A unit representative gives the density operator ; it is nonnegative with trace one. The outer product has coordinate matrix (Pure state and ray, Ray-to-projector is well-defined and bijective, Density operator, Dirac Notation Conversion, Dirac Notation Coordinate Identity).
Trace is the finite sum of diagonal entries in an orthonormal basis and is cyclic for conformable matrices; has matrix , whose trace is the squared norm of (The basis-independent trace of an endomorphism of a finite-dimensional vector space, For and , , Dirac Notation Coordinate Identity, The standard formulas on and on are inner products).
The same two rank-one projectors are a finite POVM with weights (Finite POVMs and their outcome law).
For an instrument branch map , its conditional state is only when (Finite instruments and conditional states).
The current matrix definitions give , , , and (The Pauli matrices, Controlled Phase Rotation, Exact one-qubit gates and rotations, J gate and ordered equatorial measurement vectors). Direct multiplication gives .
Tensoring equal linear maps with the identity preserves their equality on the ordered product register (Tensor products of finitely many linear maps).
The computational basis of is orthonormal, so is a unit vector (Finite registers and their ordered computational bases, The computational basis is orthonormal).
Proof
The prepared state expands as : expand , and the diagonal changes only the coefficient's sign by [F7] and [F9]. Projecting the first factor onto leaves the second-factor vector by [F1]. Matrix multiplication from [F7] gives . For these coefficients agree; for , swaps them. Thus .
Let and . The vector is normalized because and are unit, and direct multiplication of the displayed diagonal matrix gives by [F7] and [F9]. The branch vector is by step 1.1 and the unit norm of from [F1]. The projective outcome law [F2] gives ; [F5] gives the same law as a POVM. Since , trace cyclicity [F4] and the rank-one coordinate formula [F3] give . Direct multiplication of the displayed matrix in [F7] gives , and J-gate basis and exact phase identities proves is unitary, so . Thus the branch is positive-probability and normalization is defined.
Dividing the branch vector in step 1.1 by its norm yields ; equivalently, the instrument conditional density from [F6] is the rank-one operator of this normalized vector. The map identity in step 1.1 remains an identity after tensoring with the identity on any finite reference register by [F8], so it also holds for entangled inputs.
