How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Dirichlet-process Pólya-urn predictive law
Statement
Assume AC. In the conditionally IID model , , the posterior version after has one-step predictive probability for every measurable and every data vector. The formula is a data-indexed version on prior-predictive null data sets; those pointwise values are not uniquely determined by the disintegration identity.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: Full AC; a standard Borel space; finite nonzero ; and conditionally IID sampling from .
Full AC is assumed. The Axiom of Choice.
AC implies Countable Choice, as required by the Dirichlet-multinomial update. AC implies DC implies countable choice The Axiom of Countable Choice ().
The data-indexed posterior version is . Dirichlet-process posterior update.
Given the random measure and the observed past, the next observation has conditional probability of falling in , by the conditionally IID product sampling kernel. Dirichlet process Probability measures and probability spaces.
On every finite partition, positive-base cells have the Dirichlet law and zero-base cells have mass zero. Dirichlet process Existence of a Dirichlet process by normalized gamma Poisson random measure.
Under Countable Choice, the one-trial Dirichlet-multinomial evidence for the first cell of a two-cell partition with positive parameters is . Dirichlet-Multinomial conjugate update.
Proof
Given: The hypotheses in the Statement and .
Put . For , [F1] makes the posterior law ; for it is the prior . In either case, .
Let and . If , [F3] gives almost surely under ; if , it gives almost surely. If both are positive, apply [F4] to one Bernoulli draw on the partition : its probability of the first cell is the Dirichlet-multinomial evidence , which equals by the sampling kernel [F2]. Thus in all cases the predictive probability is .

An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
