How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Gauge phase periodicity, a linear gauge, and the dimension vector of q chi over hbar
Example
Assume the Axiom of Choice and the Axiom of Countable Choice (The Axiom of Choice, The Axiom of Countable Choice ()). Fix , , and consider the gauge multiplication of Gauge multiplication preserves H2 and transports the magnetic momentum.
(a) Periodicity of the phase. If are real functions and takes values in when , then pointwise; in particular . If then .
(b) A linear gauge. Let , , let and let , time-independent. Then , , and on so the constant vector potential is removed by the unitarity ; in particular, and have the same spectrum, and their operator-domain pairings agree under :
(c) Dimension vector. In the SI dimension convention with base dimensions and dimension vectors the combination has dimension vector : it is dimensionless in that convention. (The dimension-vector formalism is a bookkeeping device; the assignment of dimension vectors to the physical quantities is an external convention, not a mathematical consequence.)
Verification
Given: , , ; gauge multipliers as in Gauge multiplication preserves H2 and transports the magnetic momentum; in (b) the data , , with regarded as a function on constant in .
Proof technique: direct verification of the phase algebra, of the conjugation identities and of the finite dimension-vector arithmetic.
[F1] For real , Euler's formula gives (, , and ); the complex exponential's fibres are exactly its translates by (, and exactly when ).
[F2] The covariance identity of Gauge multiplication preserves H2 and transports the magnetic momentum clause (c): on ; the gauge unitarity and -preservation of are clauses (a)-(b) there.
[F3] of Bounded-coefficient magnetic Schrodinger operator is self-adjoint on and equals the displayed magnetic square plus scalar potential (Self-adjointness of the bounded-coefficient magnetic Schrodinger operator); is linear on its domain.
[Periodicity] If and with , then . By [F1], pointwise, hence the multipliers agree; is the case . If then . This is (a).
[Linear gauge conjugations] Take , constant and . By [F2] with , on . For the inverse, compute on : , hence ; multiplying by on the left gives on .
[Operator identity and propagator] For , by two uses of step 1.2, so on ; since is a bijection of onto itself ([F2]), this gives with common domain . Both operators are self-adjoint by [F3]; the conjugate of the spectral PVM of by is a regular PVM representing , hence is its spectral PVM by the uniqueness clause of the spectral theorem, so every bounded Borel function satisfies and in particular (Spectral theorem for unbounded self-adjoint operators (PVM form), A self-adjoint operator generates a strongly continuous unitary group, Integral of a measurable function against a projection-valued measure); the spectra coincide because carries the resolvent of to that of , . This is (b).
[Dimension vector] With the stated vectors, , so the combination has zero dimension vector; this is a four-component integer computation. This is (c).
