How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Ordinary importance sampling
Definition
Let be a measure space. An unnormalized target density is a measurable function with The target probability measure is . A proposal density is a measurable with ; write . The input integrand is measurable, and the input sample is IID with law , in the sense of Identical distribution and IID families. The normalizing constant is known for this algorithm.
Admissible conditions for an unbiased estimate: , -almost everywhere on , and the random variable is integrable under . The support condition makes the value on immaterial to the target integral.
Well-defined weights: The reciprocal map for and for is Borel. Its composition with , multiplied by the measurable inputs, makes the piecewise weight and weighted integrand measurable (Composition with a Borel measurable outer map preserves measurability, Arithmetic and lattice operations preserve measurability whenever they are defined).
Procedure and output: For each supplied draw , set when and set otherwise. Return Separate variance and central limit claims require the corresponding weighted second-moment hypothesis.

Dependency tree · two levels
15 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
