How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Metabolic Seifert forms and algebraic knot concordance
Definition
Assume the full Axiom of Choice when a knot's Seifert pairing is formed. An integral Seifert lattice is a pair in which is a free abelian group of rank for some , and is bilinear with unimodular. The rank-zero lattice is allowed, with the determinant of its empty skew matrix equal to . A metabolizer is a primitive direct summand of rank such that for every ; the lattice is metabolic when it has a metabolizer. A chosen Seifert surface of an oriented knot gives such a lattice through the positive-push pairing. Its form is algebraically slice when that lattice is metabolic.
An isomorphism of integral Seifert lattices and is an integral group isomorphism satisfying for all . Let be the commutative monoid of these isomorphism classes under orthogonal direct sum, where has underlying group and pairing , with the rank-zero lattice as identity. The integral algebraic concordance group is the abelian group generated by symbols for , subject to and for every metabolic lattice . Two selected Seifert forms are algebraically concordant when they represent the same element of . This form relation does not assert the existence of a smooth or locally flat topological concordance annulus between the knots.
