How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
The singular antidominant Serre quotient
Statement
Let be antidominant, not necessarily regular, and let Then is a Serre subcategory and the induced functors give an equivalence of abelian categories The quotient has representatives precisely among the quasicoherent -modules that are generated by global sections and have no nonzero quasicoherent -submodule with zero global sections. No equivalence with the whole -module category is asserted without regularity.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: Antidominant , the exact global-sections functor , the localization functor and their adjunction.
is exact for antidominant (Antidominant twists are D-affine and regular ones are conservative).
The adjunction unit is an isomorphism for every -module (The unit V to Gamma Loc_kappa(V) is an isomorphism for antidominant twists).
is left adjoint to (Localization is left adjoint to global sections).
Global sections on commutes with filtered colimits of underlying quasicoherent sheaves, and therefore with arbitrary direct sums (Quasicoherent modules are filtered unions of coherent subsheaves and cohomology commutes with these colimits).
Proof
Since is exact, its kernel is closed under subobjects, quotients and extensions; hence is a Serre subcategory. The functor therefore descends to the Serre quotient.
Localization is right exact. For a short exact sequence of -modules, applying localization gives a right-exact sequence Apply the exact functor and use [F2]. The resulting sequence is . Therefore the kernel of has zero global sections and lies in . Thus localization becomes exact after passage to the Serre quotient.
The unit is an isomorphism by [F2], so it remains an isomorphism in the quotient. For any , the triangular identity in [F3] shows that applying to the counit gives an isomorphism. By exactness [F1], the kernel and cokernel of the counit lie in ; hence the counit is an isomorphism in the quotient. The descended unit and counit prove the claimed equivalence.
For an arbitrary , let be the image of the counit . By step 3.1 its cokernel has zero global sections, so and define isomorphic objects of the Serre quotient. The source is generated by its global sections, hence so is . This holds even for generation as an -module: PBW and the surjective action anchor show that is locally spanned over by products of the global -operators; their actions on global sections remain global sections. Among the submodules of with zero global sections, take their sum . This is a set-indexed sum: a submodule sheaf is specified by a family of subsets of the sets , one for each open . The direct sum of any such family is again a quasicoherent -module, and commutes with it by [F4]. Exactness of [F1] then gives , so is the largest submodule of in . The quotient remains generated by global sections. If has , its inverse image fits into ; exactness [F1] gives , so by maximality and . Thus is a representative of the same quotient object, is generated by global sections, and has no nonzero submodule in . Conversely, every module with those two properties is by definition such a representative.
These representatives give an actual equivalence with the algebra-module category, not just a choice of quotient objects. If are generated by global sections and have no nonzero subobject in , any map with zero global sections has image in and hence is zero. Given , adjunction [F3] gives . The evaluation counit onto is surjective because is generated by global sections; its kernel is in by step 3.1. Its image under is therefore a -subobject of and is zero, so factors uniquely through a map inducing . This proves full faithfulness of on these representatives. For any algebra module , apply the construction of step 4.1 to ; [F1]–[F2] give its representative global sections equal to , proving essential surjectivity.
