How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Nonnegative kinetic density and moment domain

Definition

Adopt Countable Choice, denoted ACω. Let I⊆R be an open time interval measured in seconds, let L1,L2,L3>0 be periods measured in metres, and let Ω:=∏j=13(R/LjZ). Write C:=∏j=13[0,Lj) and let π:R3→Ω be the quotient map. Define dx on Borel subsets E⊆Ω by dx(E):=λ3(C∩π−1(E)), and use its completion as the spatial measure. Thus dx is the pushforward of three-dimensional Lebesgue measure restricted to the half-open fundamental cell C, is not divided by the cell volume, and satisfies dx(Ω)=L1L2L3. Velocity v∈R3 is measured in metres per second and dv is three-dimensional Lebesgue measure. Time integration uses Lebesgue measure dt on I; product integrals use the corresponding product measures. In this definition f dx dv is a number count, so a density f has units m−3(m s−1)−3.

Set v∗:=1 m s−1. For k=2,3, define the dimensionless polynomial weight ωk(v):=∑j=0k(∣v∣/v∗)j. A kinetic density is a finite-valued measurable function f:I×Ω×R3→[0,∞) for which, at every (t,x) under discussion, ∫R3ω3(v)f(t,x,v) dv<∞. Define number density n:=∫f dv and mass density ρ:=mn for a fixed particle mass m>0 in kilograms. Where n>0, define u:=1n∫R3vf dv,c:=v−u,T:=m3kBn∫R3∣c∣2f dv, for a fixed Boltzmann constant kB>0 in joules per kelvin. The velocity is u in metres per second and the temperature is T in kelvins. Where also T>0, define the candidate monatomic Maxwellian Mn,u,T(v):=n(m2πkBT)3/2exp⁡ ⁣(−m∣v−u∣22kBT). Its normalization and moments are established by a separate proposition; this formula is a definition here. At n=0, u and T are undefined, and statements using them assume n>0. A zero centered second moment gives T=0 and does not define the positive-temperature Maxwellian.

Define the pressure tensor, heat-flux vector, and kinetic-energy density by P:=m∫R3c⊗c f dv,q:=m2∫R3∣c∣2c f dv,E:=m2∫R3∣v∣2f dv. Here (a⊗b)ij=aibj. The finite absolute third moment makes these integrals finite. Their SI units are respectively pascals, watts per square metre, and joules per cubic metre. This is the monatomic translational model: no internal rotational or vibrational degrees of freedom and no isotropy assumption are included.
