How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: The time-oriented smooth Lorentzian four-manifold with metric-selected connection , the open subset , the Killing field with and on , the functions and the congruence , the smooth symmetric tensor field with , the fields , , , of The observer split of a symmetric two-tensor: energy density, energy-momentum current, flux and stress and the fields , , of Acceleration, expansion and the along-congruence derivative of an observer congruence.
is a Killing field exactly when ; equivalently (Killing fields of a Lorentzian metric, Killing fields and conserved currents, and on-shell conservation of the Hilbert stress-energy tensor clause (a)).
is torsion-free and -compatible, the extension of to tensor fields satisfies the product rule, and , ; in particular indices may be raised and lowered across , and for smooth the usual product and quotient rules apply to -multiples of tensor fields (Existence and uniqueness of the metric-selected connection of a nondegenerate metric, and its extension to tensor fields clause (c), Metric compatibility, torsion freedom and the metric-selected connection class, Tensor fields of type (r,s) on a Lorentzian four-manifold and their components, The inverse metric, musical isomorphisms and index raising).
is a positive smooth function on because and are smooth and is timelike there; hence is smooth: on charts it is the composition of the positive smooth function with the square-root function , which is differentiable on with derivative , and iterating the derivative formula exhibits smoothness (Real powers for positive bases, with the zero-base positive-exponent convention, Continuity and derivatives of positive-base real powers, Identity maps and composites of smooth maps are smooth, and smooth maps between smooth manifolds). Consequently is a smooth observer congruence on : and (Observer congruences, their observer curves and adapted charts).
The fields of The observer split of a symmetric two-tensor: energy density, energy-momentum current, flux and stress satisfy , and (The orthogonal observer decomposition of a symmetric two-tensor and its uniqueness clauses (a) and (b)).
and (Divergence of the measured energy-momentum current and the finite-chain balance identity clauses (a) and (d)).
On with a chosen orientation and its restricted metric and connection, for a smooth vector field on with and a finite smooth singular -chain with , one has (Divergence, Stokes flux balance and the non-null face formula for a Lorentzian current clause (b), The metric volume form, current flux through 3-faces and finite-chain charges).
Proof
(Gradient of the normalization and the acceleration.) By [L1] and [L2], ; since , this gives . On one hand by definition of ; on the other, by [L2] and the identity just proved. Hence , so because . Next, by the product rule [L2], ; contracting with and using gives . This proves (a).
(Vanishing expansion and symmetric part.) Symmetrizing the product formula of step 1.1, by [L1] and step 1.1. For the trace, , where and ; hence . This proves (b).
(The divergence source.) Using the product formula and step 1.1, ; the first term vanishes by [L5], and the second is by [L4]. Since is spatial and , by [L6] and clause (a) of Spatiality and curve identity of the acceleration, the divergence form of the expansion, and the along-congruence derivative. Substituting into [L5] gives . This proves (c).
(Conservation of the weighted current.) By the product rule [L2] and step 1.1, , because by step 3.1. Moreover by [L4], so . This proves the first part of (d).
(Flux balance.) The vector field is smooth on with by step 4.1, so applying [L7] on the oriented open submanifold to gives for every finite smooth singular -chain with the stated boundary. This completes the proof of (d).
Remarks
-
Interpretation of the weight. is the normalization of the Killing field, and is the energy-momentum current of the congruence weighted by it; in a static model is the redshift factor between the congruence observers and the symmetry normalization. The unweighted current is not conserved in general: its divergence is , the acceleration source of clause (c).
-
Hypotheses. Only the Killing equation, the timelike direction of , and are used. No extension of or beyond , no completeness of the congruence and no asymptotic control of the chains is assumed or asserted.
-
Choice convention. The smooth structure of the tangent bundle underlying and assumes through Observer congruences, their observer curves and adapted charts; no other choice principle is used.
