How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

2 · Summary
This companion contains two fully checked derived-Hall items: an A2 hereditary-heart multiplication and a counterexample showing why unweighted triangle-orbit counts miss the higher-homotopy factor. Each example cites the A-page definitions and proved results.
Motivic and cohomological Hall examples belong to their separate pairs, motivic-hall-algebras-and-integration-examples and cohomological-hall-algebras-and-quiver-correspondences-examples, rather than this derived-Hall companion.

Scope and local proof obligations
1. Derived Hall computations and failure cases
Required supplier: derived-hall-algebras.
Local obligation: Each example verifies its calculation from the A-page definitions and cites only established suppliers. Motivic and cohomological constructions are not folded into this scope; their examples are owned by the separate pages linked above.
Consumer: Examples clarify the A-page definitions and test parameter boundaries; they are not general theorem suppliers.
Canonical suppliers and reuse boundaries

Conventions, diagrams, and sources
Apply the definition and diagram contracts and prerequisite and repair holds before treating any proposed result as a supplier. All diagrammatic operations require defined domains, codomains, orientations, coefficients, and algebraic verification. Existing carriers keep their canonical identities and placements. Physics-only mathematical carriers require the supported same-ID resolver route specified in those contracts; links here do not establish that route.
Full page contract: placement inventory (entry derived-hall-algebras-examples). The original audited research inventory and its historical audit receipt remain unchanged.

Unweighted triangle-orbit counts miss the derived homotopy factor
Statement refuted
For every locally finite dg-enhancement and all perfect modules , the unweighted triangle-orbit count
equals the Toën derived Hall coefficient .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: A finite field , the bounded derived category of finite-dimensional -vector spaces with its standard dg-enhancement, and the coefficient formula of Toën derived Hall numbers have the higher-Ext orbit formula.
The Toën coefficient has the extra factor (Toën derived Hall numbers have the higher-Ext orbit formula).
Counterexample
Let concentrated in degree , let , , and . Since and , every map is for a unique . Its cone is isomorphic to exactly when : for the first component is an isomorphism and cancels in the cone, while for the cone has nonzero degree-zero cohomology. Hence and , so .
In this category , while for and for all . Thus the higher-Ext factor in [F1] is and the Toën coefficient is . The claimed equality is false.
The A2 hereditary-heart Hall product inside the derived Hall algebra
Example
Let and let be the quiver with one arrow . A representation is a linear map between finite-dimensional -vector spaces. Write , , and . For any supplied locally finite dg-enhancement of with the canonical bounded t-structure and its exact heart , the derived Hall product is
The vertices are numbered and the directed edge records the representation map . The diagram specifies the quiver only; all category, orbit and subobject claims are verified below.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The finite field , the quiver , its finite-dimensional representation category , and a supplied locally finite dg-enhancement with , the canonical bounded t-structure with heart , and the exact realization that short exact sequences in give the corresponding distinguished triangles.
A small finitary abelian category has finite Hom sets and finite endpoint-fixed Yoneda sets (Small finitary abelian categories for Hall multiplication).
The locally finite dg-enhancement and its cohomological right-module convention are specified in Locally finite dg enhancements for derived Hall theory.
Projective objects lift maps through epimorphisms (Projective object), and morphisms from a homotopically projective complex are computed without a roof (Morphisms from a homotopically projective complex need no roof).
The supplied enhancement identifies with , carries the canonical bounded t-structure, and sends short exact sequences in to the associated distinguished triangles.
The opposite Hall embedding gives when the heart satisfies the source hypotheses (The opposite untwisted Hall algebra of a hereditary heart embeds in the derived Hall algebra).
Verification
Kernels and cokernels of representation morphisms are formed vertexwise and inherit the arrow map; the coimage-to-image map is an isomorphism at both vertices, so is abelian. Replacing each vertex space by gives a set-sized equivalent category of matrices . A morphism is a pair of matrices satisfying the arrow-commuting equation, hence each Hom set is finite.
The representations and are projective because and , and vertex evaluation preserves epimorphisms. For , the sequence has , , and with . Its vertexwise kernel equals the image of , so this is a length-one projective resolution. The resulting two-term projective complex is homotopically projective: for any acyclic cochain complex and chain map , projectivity lifts through to ; then lands in , and projectivity lifts it through to . The equations and give a null-homotopy; only two lifts are used. By [F3], is computed by , which vanishes for . Thus the canonical heart is hereditary in the cohomological-dimension sense of [F4].
A middle representation has dimension vector and is a scalar map . Isomorphisms act by with . The zero scalar is one orbit, and all nonzero scalars form one orbit: for , and send to . Hence the only middle classes are and .
A short exact sequence with fixed endpoints has middle dimension vector equal to the sum of their dimension vectors. There are finitely many arrow matrices for that dimension vector and finitely many injection and quotient matrices, so there are finitely many short exact sequences; their Yoneda classes are a quotient of this finite set. Thus is small finitary as required by [F1].
In either middle representation the only subrepresentation isomorphic to has vertex spaces , and its quotient is . The short exact sequence fixes dimension vector , so no other middle classes contribute. Thus and .
By steps 1.1–1.2 and [A1], satisfies the finitary, hereditary, boundedness and exact-heart hypotheses of [F4]. Applying [F4] to the two coefficients from step 2.2 gives the displayed derived Hall product; the order is the opposite-heart order, as stated.
