How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Anisotropic conductivity and weak Dirichlet-to-Neumann map
Definition
Assume the Axiom of Choice and Countable Choice. Let and let be a bounded connected open set with smooth boundary. Write and let be the -closure of . Define the boundary trace-data space with quotient norm. If , its boundary is nonempty, and the trace-quotient lemma identifies this quotient with the fixed-atlas boundary data convention of the scalar conductivity map. If , then and the fixed-atlas empty-boundary convention gives the identification directly. Let be uniformly positive definite, so some satisfy for all and . For , a weak solution with boundary datum is a class with and
The weak anisotropic Dirichlet-to-Neumann map is the bilinear-form candidate given, whenever the weak solution exists, by
where is any representative of . The local anisotropic conductivity well-posedness lemma proves existence and uniqueness for every boundary class, independence of the representative , and boundedness on ; it therefore makes this candidate a bounded bilinear map. The map is the boundary energy form for the equation . Under the trace-quotient isomorphism and the local boundedness result, this form gives the usual weak map into the dual with the scalar convention.

An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
