How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Periodic rectangular reaction-diffusion grid

Definition

Fix d≥1, side lengths Lj>0, and integers Nj≥3. Put hj=Lj/Nj, TLd=∏j=1d(R/LjZ), and Gh=∏j=1d(Z/NjZ). Grid nodes are xi=((ij+12)hj)j=1d modulo the side lengths, grid indices wrap modulo Nj, and Phu=(u(xi))i∈Gh denotes sampling. The cell volume is mh=∏jhj. The positive periodic heat stencil is the unit-diffusivity specialization of the periodic operator in Fully discrete θ heat finite-difference scheme:

(Ahperv)i=∑j=1d2vi−vi+ej−vi−ejhj2.

For s species with diffusivities dr≥0, the reaction-diffusion grid generator acts on species r by −drAhper. Each grid node has weight mh=∏jhj; the stencil has zero row and column sums, so each species' weighted sum is conserved by diffusion. Its matrix representation satisfies Lh=mhAhper, with symmetric Lh, nonpositive off-diagonal entries and Lh1=0.

The sign convention is that Ahper is nonnegative and −drAhper generates diffusion. The exact eigenvalues of the positive stencil are supplied by Periodic heat-stencil eigenvalues and θ amplification factor. This grid is the only spatial discretization used in the periodic error theorem; no mesh-uniform claim for general finite-volume meshes is made there.

11 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
